  6. Thanks Bikram. With your instruction, it turns the simple D-Link 930L into a more advanced camera! I have it record to the NAS and sync with dropbox. Nice how-to article!

  7. That's an awesome solution.

Did you have to do anything special to get VLC Player to record the audio? I can play audio in VLC, but still no audio in iSpy.

  10. Step 21, where are we to log into that camera http with the numbers. I'm not a techie person so if you want to fill in instructions for average joe (but I'm a girl), I could help with that.

  15. Hi Bikram,

    first at all: Great HowTo!.

Sadly i am still struggling to get audio record...
Followed your instructions step by step but still iSpy says "Device Lost Microfon 2" (i am using the DLink DSC930L/A2 as a second camera.

Only change i made regarding to your configuration: FW 1.11b instead of 1.06...do you have any suggestions?

  16. Nice HowTo. I can now hear audio within the Ispy application, but I can not hear audio in a .mp4 clip. Does the audio goes to a different file or location on the computer?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ok, I failed to select a destination folder for the audio and I restarted the computer. Now audio in the.mp4 file. YOU Rock Dude!!! Thanks a million. Hope this helps someone like you HowTo HelpMe.

  18. I've actually been pretty happy with the latest version of D-ViewCam. It is fast, stable, and easy to get up and running quickly for a few extra local monitoring features you can't get with the web portal.

However, it is limited in its advanced capabilities, especially when adding other camera brands to the mix. So I am trying out iSpy for that reason.

  19. By just fooling around, I was able to record video and audio. I set up Realplayer as my default media and although the sound isn't as clear as I'd like it to be (some static at times), if something is said loud enough, it can be heard. I was able to record a conversation 12 feet from my camera.

If you want to clear out the videos (mine are set for 5 minute intervals) on ISPY, you can still find those segments/clips (???) (don't know if that's the right word, I'm a newb at this) those files you "delete" from ISPY are still held in a folder named TJKU, which can be found by going into start, computer, type TJKU in the search....right click on the file, send to desktop (shortcut), boom, no need to look for particular segments, times, etc...they're all in that one folder. However, once deleted from that folder, it goes to your trash and once that's cleaned out, those particular segments are gone, so be careful what you delete (as I've found out the hard way).

Great post, Bikram, you are my HERO/KNIGHT IN SHINING ARMOUR!!!

  20. 2 years later and you're still helping people! Thank you!!!

  21. Thank you. Saved me a lot of effort figuring this out.. All hail crappy d-link products and software... but eh, its cheap..

  22. Fantastic instructions! However...what if you're a user on a Mac? iSpy is a Windows only software. :/

  23. Thanks for this, with the 1.14.02 (2015-10-06) firmware, /audio.cgi works... but only over http. Over https it blows out... the same way *video* used to... sure enough, it does the https protocol negotiation, and then doesn't bother to *continue* to perform the session encryption, so it sends "RIFF\0" in the clear, at which point curl (or any other sane client) blows up with a "wrong version number" error.

I suppose it suggests that they've kept the same people working on it, if they've made the same mistakes five years apart :-)
